Conflict Coaching allows anyone involved in a conflict to work with a conflict coach to analyze the conflict styles that have been used as well as to consider the potential of the conflict styles that have not been used. With the aid of the Conflict Styles worksheet, the conflict coach engages a brief discussion of five conflict styles. Each style is assessed for its strengths and weaknesses for use with the specific conflict at hand. Further, the conflict coach invites the individual in conflict to explore past approaches used, along with their effectiveness, to resolve past conflicts.
The design of the Conflict Styles Questionnaire was influenced by the works of Robert Blake, Jane Morton, Thomas Kilman, and Ronald Kraybill.
